Announcing: Spinward Fringe Frontline

Am I excited about this book? I honestly can't express how insanely enthusiastic I feel about this Broadcast. It's the fourth book in the Spinward Fringe Series, and I know I've said this before but EVERYTHING COMES TOGETHER IN THIS BOOK!

If there was a unified theory to the Spinward Fringe Series it would be found in this book. The questions some people have had since the First Light Chronicles Limbo (the second book in that series, included in the First Light Chronicles Omnibus) are answered. Think Eden IV, think characters working to come back together for the first time in hundreds of pages, think universe changing.

That's what you'll see in this book right along with some solid characterization from characters I know for a fact fans have been looking to see. I get emails every time I release a book, and positive or negative I listen. The emails I recieved after releasing Spinward Fringe Triton told me one thing more than any other; The great big risks I took with the story in Triton paid off. People are thrilled with the latest release.

When will Spinward Fringe Frontline be released? I'm doing everything I can to get this out before the end of 2008, but I have to warn you: I'm a little over half way finished and it looks like this book will be longer and more intricate than any that has come before.

Triton set a new scene for many of our characters, and now that I've expanded the universe and moved to a whole new sand box with the story I'm going to tell a bigger tale that comes with a solid dose of creative dialogue and character interaction that I'm enjoying so much that I've once again completely lost my objectivity.

Enough going on about this book, it's time I get back to work.

I have to send out a big thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far, I greatly appreciate everyone who follows me on this journey. Remember; if you, the readers weren't there, I'd still write this but it would take a lot longer to complete each edition since I'd have to split my time with another endeavor. You guys keep me writing full time, and not a day goes by that I don't love singing for my dinner to this crowd.

Signed Copies of Omnibus on Ebay?

After being asked how to get a signed copy of Omnibus again (this is happening more and more), I had a conversation with a few friends who said; "try Ebay!"

As strange as it sounds (and it does sound strange), I thought I'd give it a go, since they take care of calculating shipping, providing a place to list it and auction details and such. [Here's the link]

This is really just a way for me to start experimenting, to find out what works and to help raise capitol so I can continue to do this and prove that a new(ish) independent author can actually work full time as a writer and afford more than a card board box and a strict diet of cat food.

I'm completely open to suggestions, however, and I'd like to hear from you about this idea or any others you have in mind.

For unsigned copies you can currently order from Lulu.com (the link is on the right hand side of the site), or wait until I'm finished setting up with Amazon.com, which will be sometime just before Christmas.

I hope this is a solution that works for a few people. If not, I'd love it if someone comes up with a better idea.

Again, thank you to everyone whose slowly making all this happen for me, I love my readers and anyone who has emailed me about the books can tell you I take their thoughts seriously and answer their (non-plot related), questions thoroughly. It's my pleasure to entertain you.

The books, the work, and the readers.

The best thing about having a distributor that pushes your work is seeing that there are readers. There's something even better that figures into that and it's when you release fairly affordable novellas that allow anyone to say; "Okay, I liked the first and the second, but I don't feel like continuing." They can just turn around and decide not to buy the next one.

There's a special reward when I see a couple dozen sales of Freeground, the first book in the First Light Chronicles, on Monday. Then on Wednesday I see them come back and buy Limbo, then Starfree Port and Spinward Fringe: Resurrection on Friday. That's a truly special reward, and keep in mind I don't make more than a couple dollars per copy, so that signal I'm getting from the readers that they want more, they are very interested in the stories I have such pleasure telling is wonderful. It means more than the money, though the cash does pay the bills, let's face it.

Would I write all this stuff if it weren't for the people reading it? Hell yeah. Would it happen as quickly or be as good? I strongly suspect it would be quite as good. Readers challenge me, through emails, even on the radio like Ross at SomaCow. An educated opinion is worth hearing, and man, they come at me like a storm some days. I take it all with a grain of salt, everyone has different expectations, but there are lessons there if you keep an open mind.

Following this little rant, you'll find info on the next Spinward Fringe Novels. But going forward I need everyone to know; I just spent over forty hours writing in three days and I am in paradise. The stories come easy, the characters stand up and demand attention, and the work is wonderful.

The readers have spoken, you're starting to buy, and I can tell you with full confidence whether you're reading the Fate Cycle series, the First Light Chronicles or the Unlimited Spinward Fringe series: You ain't seen nothin' yet.
